About Former Magistrate Judge Gammage

Biography
Born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, Former Magistrate Judge Gammage attended South Bend public schools and graduated from John Adams High School. He obtained a bachelor’s degree and law degree from Valparaiso University.
Andre Gammage began his legal career as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for St. Joseph County, eventually expanding into roles such as Public Defender, Staff Attorney for the South Bend Human Rights Commission, Administrative Law Judge, and, beginning in 2013, Magistrate Judge for the St. Joseph Circuit Court in South Bend, Indiana. Throughout his judicial career, he presided over a variety of cases, such as family law, veterans’ cases, protective orders, and more. In 2025, Andre Gammage retired from the bench and returned to private practice, joining THK Law LLP as Of Counsel.
Beyond the courtroom, Andre Gammage is a faculty member of the National Judicial College of Juvenile and Family Court Judges and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Notre Dame School of Law, where he teaches intensive trial advocacy and an expungement clinic.
